High-voltage direct-current superconducting cables are an attractive option for the high-capacity links of the future. This last Special Workshop of the EU-funded Best Paths project will show the results of Demonstration 5, which is developing a new superconducting direct current cable enabling power transmission of several gigawatts. The workshop, organised by Nexans, IASS Potsdam and ASG Superconductors, will also discuss the future European grid and the opportunities for integrating superconducting transmission links. The day will end up with a visit to the plant of Columbus Superconductors in Genoa, which is a world leader in the manufacturing of superconducting cables. Register to our workshop to meet our experts and learn more about the demonstration project.
