2019 is the year of a new EU policy cycle, the last year of an important decade for the European energy system and the opening of a new period of transformation. 2019 is also the year which celebrates the 10-year anniversary of ENTSO-E and ENTSOG and the 3rd Energy Package, which would set the basis for the establishment of the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER).

To acknowledge the ten years since their foundations, ENTSO-E and ENTSOG have teamed up to host the European Energy Forum (EEF) dinner-debate – with the collaboration of ACER – on 17 September 2019, in the European Parliament in Strasbourg, bringing together MEPs, Commission officials and energy industry stakeholders. The event will look on the past achievements and address upcoming challenges.

In the last ten years, ACER, ENTSO-E and ENTSOG have worked with the NRAs and the TSOs to facilitate the completion of the EU energy market and the meeting of energy targets in terms of competitiveness, security of supply and sustainability.

During this time the ENTSOs have developed technical and market rulebooks for gas and electricity - the European network codes and guidelines; long term grid development plans; security of supply assessments and European energy transparency platforms.

These achievements have been undertaken in close coordination and consultation with European institutions, Member States and stakeholders.

In the next decade, ENTSO-E and ENTSOG will continue to work on sector coupling, energy conversion technologies, and long-term energy scenarios as part of the decarbonisation process. The ENTSOs remain committed to cooperate for a competitive, reliable and sustainable future energy system in the next decade and beyond.
