The go-live of the flow-based day ahead market coupling on 8 June, together with the market coupling of Croatia and Hungary & of Slovenia and Hungary, is a landmark in the history of European electrical interconnection. As of this date, the European electricity system is further increasing robustness and efficiency by deeper market integration across the thirteen countries of the Core Capacity Calculation Region.

The flow-based capacity calculation developed by the TSOs of the Core Region laid the foundations for the Core Flow-Based Market Coupling Project which is an excellent example of the potential of pan-European cooperation for delivering social welfare benefits by improving grid utilisation and reducing the overall cost for customers.

ENTSO-E congratulates the 16 TSOs and 10 NEMOS of the Core Region and the involved RSCs for this significant achievement and thanks the NRAs for their contributions.
